DBT informed therapy
Dialectical Behavior Therapy is an evidence based modality created by Marsha Linehan to help people learn to better regulate their emotions and build their life worth living. DBT is structured around learning and using skills that helps people navigate and regulate big emotions and take care of ourselves as best we can even when things are hard. While I offer individual sessions, I do not offer DBT group which is an important component of adherant DBT. If you are interested in adherant DBT, I can help you find a DBT skills group and coordinate care wtih group providers.

RODBT informed Therapy
Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RODBT) is an evidence based offshoot of Standard DBT created by Thomas R Lynch. While standard DBT focuses on helping people gain more control of their emotions, RODBT helps people who present with a more over-controlled coping style increase their flexibility and openness to change. RODBT addresses issues around lonliness, isolation, avoidance, and perfectionism. It is often recommended for folks who display traits of Autism Spectrum Disorder, OCPD, treatment resisitant depression and eating disorders. Resources for more information on RODBT and the differences between RO and standard can be found here.
Like standard DBT, adherant RODBT includes attending a group skills class. Group Referrals and care coordination available upon request

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing)
EMDR is an evidence based trauma treatment created by Dr Francine Shapiro. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation to help patients desensitize and reprocess trauma. Bilateral stimulation is the use of eye movement, sound, or tapping on alternate sides of the body. While there is significant and peer reviewed research that it works, we still do not know exactly why bilateral stimulation helps patients loosen the emotional grip of traumatic memories and self-limiting beliefs.
Because EMDR deals with reprocessing painful and sensitive subjects, it is not right for everyone, all the time. I believe in taking a slow and measured approach to the process to make things go as smoothly as possible. You can learn more about EMDR here.
